Sample Post: The old New York apartment was a complete mess. Dirty clothes were strewn everywhere, there were various stacks of old news papers, and empty prescription pill bottles everywhere. The kitchen sink was piled high with dirty dishes and the stove looked like it hadn’t been wiped down in a decade. Had anyone stepped foot into this place in years? A man’s voice came blaring through an open archway. “-5 people injured. We still aren’t sure what caused the wreck but it obviously had something to do with the heavy down pour of rain.” This was obvious proof that someone did in fact inhabit this hell hole.
The room in which the voice came from was a bedroom. It was no different from the living room and kitchen outside of it. Clothes were every where as well as a Jim Beam bottle and a small ash tray sitting on an end table. On the ratty old bed was a young man, probably about fourteen. He sat cross legged was a book spread out between his index finger and middle finger. Gone With the Wind.
The door leading to the apartment opened. “Jess! Jess, sweetie!” The boy furrowed his brow, oh how he loathed being called “sweetie”. “Yeah!?” He called back making sure to give an annoyed tone so maybe his mother would leave him alone. She answered back, her voice sounded scratchy like she had been yelling. “Could you come into the kitchen, please?”
Moments later, Jess was in the kitchen sitting before his mother’s two best friends, his Grandfather, his ex-best friend’s, Greg, mother, and his uncle. They all had somber expressions except for his uncle, Dean, who looked a little exasperated. Jess raised an eyebrow at his mother, “What is this about?”
It seemed like hours as his grandfather explained about his mom’s condition and how it wasn’t good for him to be living there. They had just held an intervention for Carrie and now needed to speak with him. “No! I am not moving to Boston to live with him!” Jess jabbed a finger at his uncle. They all looked at each other, as if they knew that this was how Jess would react.
Now, Jess stood in the doorway with his army green knapsack slung over his shoulder. Next to him stood his uncle Dean. They both looked pretty upset about this decision. The door closed behind the two and they both wordlessly stepped into Dean’s pick-up truck and drove off for the ride back to his home in Boston.
Back To The BASICS Full Name:Jesse Christopher Hartland Nicknames:Jess Age:16 D.O.B:Oct. 23 Gender:Male Grade:Junior Original Appearance:Sophomore year
It's All About YOU
Celebrity Portrayal:Milo Ventimiglia
Physical Appearance: Jess has short jet black hair that he takes special care with. His eyes are a dark hazel color and hold a mysterious look about them. Around his chin is some stubble that Jess keeps clean and short and sometimes doesn’t even have it at all. Jess isn’t the tallest guy out there but is pretty high up there; roughly about 5’10” but because of his slim appearance and long legs he seems taller. Jess weighs about 152 pounds, however it is all muscle. He has a slim figure but is defiantly stronger than he looks.
Jess has slightly tanned skin that pales out during the winter months. On his left arm is a tattoo of a dragon spiraled up from his elbow to his shoulder, on his back at about the waist line is a star tattoo, and on his wrist is the Jolly Rodger (scull and cross bones). In his right ear he had one piercing at the top of his ear but doesn’t wear the earring much.
Clothing Style: Not exactly what you might imagine as bad boy attire. Jess had tons of dark colored button down shirts that are wrinkled and some that have the sleeves torn or cut off. Mostly jeans that are ripped at the knees, some more than others. He also wears band t-shirts and has this one jean jacket that he wears a lot in the fall and winter months. Along with this is some bad boy material like his leather jacket and numerous amount of dark gray and black hoodies.
Personality: Labeled as one of the town “Bad Boys”, Jess is a rebel. He stays distant from his mother and can only really connect with his uncle that he currently lives with, only that he doesn’t want to admit it. Jess really doesn’t talk to a lot of adults mainly because he doesn’t respect them. He shows respect in odd ways like making snide comments to an adult or just talking to them. On that note, Jess also does not like to speak with his peers. It is seldom to see him engaged in conversation unless he is being his snarky and sarcastic self with another guy and occasionally a girl he likes. Jess is slightly judgmental, especially with preps and jocks and is often making fun of them behind their backs and occasionally to their faces.
If you can weasel your way through Jess’s defenses you see that he is a smart kid that has family problems. Jess is very bright and can often be seen at the library or the bookstore with some sort of classic in his hand. He has a love of books and writing along with playing his guitar.

It's All BEHIND You P.O.B: New York City History: Jess was born in New York to a seven-teen year old mother. His mom moved away from her family and lived in an apartment with her boyfriend and Jess’s father for one week. When Jess’s dad went out to get some groceries, he didn’t return. Two months later they received a letter from him in California apologizing for ditching them.
Jess grew up taking care up his mom instead of vis versa. With her boyfriend’s retreat, Carrie sunk into a depression and became addicted to drinking and drugs. Unfortunatly, this influenced Jess and he began to drink under-aged and smoke. At fourteen he was sent to live with his uncle after constant persuading by family friends. Jess really didn’t want to be there and began to just rebel and distant himself more from his family.
School wasn’t hard for Jess he just didn’t apply himself. He skipped classes, didn’t turn in homework, yet he aced all exams. He just barely passed his fresh man year. After a few pranks and incidents a parties, Jess wasn’t the favorite guy in his town or at school. So, Jess’s uncle kicked him out too sending him to Roanoke Prep. There, Jess didn’t make much of a reputation for himself either. Family: Carrie Hartland-Mother Christohpher Fredrick-Dad Dean Hartland-Uncle Other:N/A
