Wet and dreary. What else would one expect after rainfall? Well, maybe cheer and radiance? Impossible? Not quite. Faiqa reflected these two bright characteristics as she walked down Loudoun Lane, to the Avery Estate. A re-cap would fill you in much more so let's look back earlier.
It was 6:02 am when Faiqa Ditonno hit snooze on her alarm clock. It was raining. It was Saturday. It was boring. It was a perfect day for homework. Still in her pj's, Fai walked over to her desk to find her notes all chewed up and wet. There was only one possibility...Cream, her pug.
Oh well, no she had an excuse to go o ver to Rylan's place and copy some English notes. They had the same class and teacher...just at different times. Hopefully, their topics were the same. A quick shower an some breakfast was all it took and Fai sauntered outside the house in a hot pink zip-up hoodie over a gray tee shirt and dark-washed skinny jeans. Her hot pink hi-cut Converse scuffed along the side walk. The rain had stopped a few minutes earlier, leaving but puddles in its memory.
A smile was plastered on her sweaty face as she pounded on the wooden door. Here was Faiqa Ditonno, knocking on Rylan Avery's door.

As the bells rang Beth didn't want to get out of her comfortable position. She was having a good rest for once in about 3 months. Why did this person have to come to the door at this time? Beth looked over at the alarm clock and sighed. 6:20? Who would be away at this time in the morning? Obviously some strange person.
Beth woke Rylan up slightly and groaned to him "Some one's at the door." She stood up and walked over to the door and turned the knob. She looked back at Rylan checking if he was awake or not.
Beth walked down the stairs wearing her gray shorts and her gray tee. Her bare feet smacked the floor. She looked to check if anyone was up. She didn't like to be welcomed by Rylan's family. It was nice but awkward, so it was nice no one was awake. Beth rubbed her eyes to wake her up some more.
She walked over straight to the door and opened it. It was probably the mailman making a house call. "Hello?" Beth said as she widened the door. Faiqa? Oh no. Beth's eyes widened.

A light groan escaped past his lips as the knock awoke him, but it didn't quite register in his mind as being a person at the door. Rolling onto his side, he peered toward the alarm clock, barely reading the glowing red letters. Too early, was all he knew. Usually, he'd be up by now, enjoying his first cup of coffee and watching the newest music videos on VH1. Saturday was usually a better day for him to sleep in, tired from the week before, it came easily. The clock read 6:20 by now, and another knock was given. Now he was definitely awake, just too comfortable to move.
As Beth nudged him lightly, he glanced in her direction, nodding lightly to her words. She moved toward the door, and he silently swung his feet from the bed, taking a clean t-shirt from his dresser drawer. He continued down the hall, and down the set of stairs, tugging the graphic navy t-shirt over his head. A pair of flannel pants covered his lower half, bare feet gliding easily over the hard wooden floor. His mind rotated through several people, pondering on exactly who could be at the door. At first he just figured it was one of Samantha's friends, seeing how she recovered from a party the night before. However, something told him that definitely wasn't it.
Light streamed into the hall as Beth opened the door, causing him to squint slightly to rid some of the light from his eyes. "Who is it?" He asked, just low enough to where it would wake anyone else in the house. As if on cue two puppies bounded from the living room, skidding to a halt beside the door. From then he knew it was someone that rarely visited, but enough to where the puppies knew the scent. He slowly narrowed away possible suspects, coming to a single person in mind. His figure appeared in the doorway, his eyes falling upon the brunette standing expectantly at the door. A course of sudden nervousness flooded through his body, unsure of what he should be doing, but he knew it definitely wasn't this.

"Hi Ry-" Faiqa's perky voice was cut off when she saw the figure in front of her. Beth? What the hell was she doing here so early? In pajamas?! Thoughts were racing through her mind. Had anything happened last night? Faiqa feared the worst...that Rylan and Beth were a couple.
Her mouth was open but no sound came out. As Rylan appeared, she was able to let something out. "W-what?" was all she managed to say. A few seconds of silence then Fai regained composure. "I-I mean," she shook her head as if erasing other thoughts from her mind,"I was wondering if you could lend me your English notes. Cream ate mine." A light shrug was given off as she reminded herself why she came here in the first place.
Okay, so maybe Rylan was the reason but now she had to play it cool. A nervous but natural-looking smile appeared as she waited anxiously. Sooner or later, she'd make the two explain. For now though, she could do nothing but zip and unzip her hoodie. Anxiety, running in her blood.

Beth was caught between some trouble. Her best friend arrived at Rylan's house looking for some fun but she came to see her so called best friend and her crush in pajamas. Beth hoped that Faiqa didn't think they just had sex. Beth would never do that to Fai, or thats what she hoped. Beth did like Rylan but she knew Fai did too. So how was she going to deal with this problem.
As Beth heard Rylan come up to her she looked at him and mouthed out the word 'shit'. She turned her head to Fai and opened the door more so they could all see each other. Beth moved to the side. Beth decided to not say anything and let Rylan talk. She didn't want to mess anything up. She was know for saying this that she didn't really mean.

The low beep of the automatic coffee pot beeped, causing Rylan to jump slightly. Nervousness seemed to build as he stood there, his toes wiggling in such a manner that would tell anyone that he was uncomfortable. What was he supposed to say, now? More importantly, what was he supposed to do? The blond was tempted to look between the two girls, but couldn't even bring himself to that. So, there he stood, his eyes fixed on the ground beneath his feet.
An eyebrow quivered questioningly as Faiqa spoke, but not enough to where it would be noticeable. He had a good feeling to what she was thinking, thoughts that were far from being true. Part of him wanted to just walk out on the situation, but something kept him there. A single question lingered in his mind; What was Faiqa doing here so early? The only time people came around early on weekends was when it was an emergency, but she didn't look to be in to much distress. As she spoke her reason, he was totally surprised. English notes? A mechanical nod was given, gathering enough words to speak. "Uh... Yeah, sure," He turned, catching himself before moving any further. "You can come in, if you want," He added, moving ridgedly toward the kitchen. Sitting on the kitchen table was a fairly stuffed, strewn beneath a laundry basket of the clothes he'd just washed. His parents had left on another business trip, which didn't surprise him, the only reason he was actually staying in the house. He hadn't even told Beth about his move out of the house, and the fact he was struggling even to grab a bed in a cousin's house. The only person he'd told was Mike, the only person who seemed to understand at that moment. He dug through the pile to find a notebook, decorated with random doodles due to boredom. Turning to face the two girls, he enhaled deeply, handing over the notes to Faiqa.
Another beep came from the coffee pot, reminding him that it was still brewing, and he hadn't turned it off. "Coffee?" He asked the two, now grasping at straws to lighten the mood.

Faiqa stepped into the warm house with her head bowed. "Coffee would be good," she replied to Rylan. Coffee would definitely make her feel warmer. She kept her head bowed as she sat down on a stool by the counter top, her usual place whenever taking breakfast at the Avery Home. Fai didn't want to look her friends in the eye...not right now.
What could she do? Her heart sank as the image of Beth appeared and her mind was still dazed. Fai was stuck in consternation. She was thinking of a solution and accidentally looked up. Beth faced her way.
She just shut her eyes, hoping it'd all disappear.

Beth was still in total shock. Rylan was acting normal and so was Fai. As if nothing was wrong. Hopefully Faiqa did know what really happened and didn't think some other things. That wouldn't be good. Beth didn't want to have her best friend hating her, especially at this time in her life. She needed Fai to support her. But High school was way too complicated for life to be perfect.
Beth sat on one of the chairs. She was of course not tired and sleepy anymore. This totally woke her up. By the way that Beth looked right now, it seemed as though she was guilty of murder. She had done something so wrong and everyone was quiet about it. She knew she was going to get yelled at sometime later. Beth stared at the marble counter. She occasionally looked up at Rylan then Faiqa. What was she to do now?

Rylan nodded mechanically in Faiqa's direction, pouring her a cup of coffee, he set it down in front of her. He didn't dare look either of them in the eye at this point. The uncomfortable silence just made him even more restless, causing him to toy with the spoon now submerged in his coffee. The Avery house had never been so quiet when either girls had decided to visit. Normally, it would be filled with constant chatter, and loud laughter. Today, however, it was dead quiet.
His face showed no emotion whatsoever, but his eyes reflected a look what might be detected as pain. He wanted a way out of the situation, and possibly a younger Rylan would have walked off, but today it wasn't the case. He silently glanced between the two, trying to judge their emotions, if there even was anything besides shock and surprise. Who would speak first, he didn't know, but at this point he had a feeling it definitely wasn't him.

The silence was sheer torture. Faiqa had never faced so much of it. She had to break it. But how? This situation was tough...very tough! Taking the cup from Rylan's hand, Fai took a quick sip. Okay, she couldn't take the heat. She had to leave.
"Ah, Ry. Delicious coffee as always. I have to go now...Besides, I seem to have interrupted something," she said with a fake smile as she stood up. Fai quickly walked out the door, hoping neither Beth nor Rylan would chase after her. "Bye, Beth," Fai rolled her eyes as she passed by the blond.
By now, she had just closed the door. Would they dare go after her?
