It was the perfect day for it; He had been running for at least two miles, but the breeze kept him cool. As he neared the main doors of the building, his mind fought with itself: You don't really want to go in. It's too nice to go sit inside. If you stay outside, you can cool off, then go shower later. A grin settled in as he made his decision, turned around and began to walk across the lawns. Where is everyone on a day like today? Then his eyes caught sight of someone. A girl actually. Chris approached her slowly. She was the only one outside on a day like today, so she couldn't be all that bad. When he was within a few feet of her, he noticed she was from Johnson Hall. She lived a few doors down from Chris. He had noticed her before, but never alone. As he sat next to her, her folded his legs underneath him. "Hi there." Chris picked at the grass. She hadn't immediately warmed up to him. He didn't mind that, per se, but he did want to talk to her. "I'm Christopher Isaacson, although I prefer Chris. I think we live in the same dorm." He smiled at her, hoping perhaps he could spark a conversation between the two. His breathing had returned to normal, but his legs were starting to hurt. He pulled them out from underneath himself and stretched them out, waiting for the pretty girl to reply.
Back To The BASICS Full Name: Michael Geoffrey Payne Nicknames: usually called Mike rather than Michael Age: 17 D.O.B: 16 June 1990 Gender: male Grade: Senior Original Appearance: Freshman
It's All About YOU Celebrity Portrayal: James Lafferty Physical Appearance: Mike is a decently good looking guy. Mike’s face is one that many girls have fallen for. He has a nice set of features: a pair of large light blue grey eyes, a narrow nose, cheekbones that would make a supermodel jealous and an almost girlishly full mouth. Lucky for him and his tough guy image, Mike’s strong, square jaw line keeps him from being classified as a ‘pretty boy’. He has dark hair that he wears short to keep it out of his eyes for basketball. Mike doesn’t pay too much attention to his face or hair. He washes his face with regular soap, cuts his own hair with a buzzer, and has never used hair gel of any kind. Mike’s not incredibly tall. He stands at about 5 foot ten inches. He weighs in at 175 pounds. His weight is practically all lean muscle from basketball training. He has broad shoulders from practicing thousands of foul shots, strong legs from hundreds of jump shots, and six pack abs from millions of sit ups. He is proud of his body to the point of narcissism and shows it off whenever the chance arises- guess which side Mike chooses to play on during a ‘shirts vs. skins’ pick up basketball game. One notable thing about Mike is his eyes. They reflect light with a flat shine, which gives them an unusually sinister appearance. It doesn’t help that Mike’s default expression is an unwelcoming stare cultivated after years of self imposed strict competition. When you look into Mike’s eyes, you usually look away pretty fast.
Clothing Style: Much like how he doesn’t give too much thought to his hair, Mike doesn’t spend too much time worrying about his wardrobe. He wears mostly solid color clothing, sometimes stripes when he’s feeling particularly spiffy. He can be found wearing t-shirts when it’s hot out, button downs when it’s chilly, and sweatshirts -or one of the cable knit sweaters his mother insists on buying for him-when it’s cold. In terms of pants, he is the proud owner of a half dozen pairs of nearly identical khaki cargo pants from Abercrombie & Fitch. Mike has several drawers full of basketball shorts, t-shirts with the sleeves torn out, and gym socks, which is indicative of the many hours he spends practicing his game. Mike fosters a secret love for clean sneakers. He owns several pairs of Adidas and Starburys that will never be worn during a soccer game on a muddy field. He does have a pair or two of disgusting sneakers reserved for muddy soccer game purposes, but most of his footwear is spotless.
Personality: It’s more than easy to sum up Mike Payne’s personality in one word: Competitive. He can and will turn every situation into a contest, whether or not the other people around realize it. This makes him a demon on the basketball court, as he has developed a very quick thinking mind from constantly inventing games and tallying up made up points scores in his head. He is never more aware of these ‘points’ than when he spends time with his younger brother, Bryan. The rivalry between the brothers has recently reached epic proportions due to Joie Harrison’s decision to break up with Bryan to go out with Mike. Mike, of course, counts this more as a victory for him than as a romance. Despite his crazy competitive streak, Mike is highly logical. His calculating mannerisms don’t endear him to anyone. He can easily spot strengths and weaknesses in himself and others, and stores this information with startling attention to detail. The inside of Mike’s head probably looks very similar to a filing room in the world’s largest and cleanest office - rows upon rows of neatly organized information, just waiting for a chance to be useful. These characteristics make Mike a demon on the basketball court. He can effortlessly memorize the stats and playing techniques of his opponents and never forgets a faulty gameplan. He would have probably made captain, but his teammates didn’t think he was personable enough for the position. It might seem like no one would want to be close to such a character, but Mike has a good group of friends. He’s always the serious one in a group. He’s smart enough to understand all the jokes that are thrown back and forth, but rarely does something make him laugh out loud. Mike has had his fair share of girlfriends, too; Girls must misinterpret this as him being the strong, silent type with a hidden soft side. They’re usually disappointed. There’s a good guy in Mike, somewhere. It’s just hidden under layers of cold, calculating, competitive perfectionism.
Likes: competition, sports- basketball in particular, winning, winning, winning Dislikes: losing, losing, losing...his younger brother Overall Flaws: Mike is practically obsessed with winning. He makes everything a competition which, while being great for his athletic career, puts a strain on his interpersonal relationships. Pets: None Financial Status: Upperclass Clique: Jocks
It's All BEHIND You P.O.B: New York, New York History: Mike was born and raised in NYC. He loves the city and how it forces you to live through its chaos, which is evident when you get to know him. Mike’s ready for action personality is a direct effect of the way he grew up. Mike is the older of the Payne boys, and he’s not too happy about it. His parents- a professor turned police officer for a mother and a marine turned lawyer for a father -lavished attention and praise on his brother, Bryan. Rather than accept that his baby brother needed more attention than he did, Mike became aggressively competitive at a very young age. He strove to be one thing and one thing only: Better than Bryan. This was a daunting task, as Bryan was and is seen as the perfect Payne child, mostly because he was always lying to get Mike in trouble. To get away from his conniving little brother, and as another way to earn praise, Mike became involved in sports. He was always involved in neighborhood pick-up games and started seriously playing football, basketball, and baseball while in grade school. He found that he succeeded the most on the basketball court, so by 7th grade he had completely devoted himself to that sport. Now, he is a prized player on the RPA basketball team and is expected to play in college, maybe even get drafted to the NBA. Even though he currently only legitimately trains for basketball, it is not unusual to find Mike involved in any given competitive sport on any given day, trying to win, of course. Mike hopes that one day his competition with his brother will fade out, but that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon, especially with the current Joie situation… Family: Mom, Dad, younger brother Bryan Other: In less than a year he may be a father.
