Darkness was settling thickly over the ground, and the lake grew a rather eerie look as its glistening white turned into glistening blackness. All the noises and the younger students had vanished back into their lands of sleep and warmth in the common rooms. Although it may be dark it was not necessarily late, but curfew was gradually drawing nearer. The lake seemed to have an air of knowing it was night time; yet, it knew that it was not alone either. In fact it almost seemed to be encouraging students to come stare in wonder at its glassy surface that reflected the night's lights. The moon was drawing closer to being full and yet none seemed able to see the threat that could be lurking around every corner. Large gray hued rocks lined one side of the lake, on the other was an open area of muddied sand and other such small pebbles, that was where most of the students would go down to swim when the weather was more favorable. It seemed that not many minded the bone chilling weather and they would go out and frolic and once they were back in warm comfort complain of their lightheadedness. That was the first sign of them being ill.
The Ravenclaw who had wandered out onto the grounds worried very little about getting ill, if she needed to she could just wait it out in the girl's dorms. Luckily for her, her bed was in the darkest corner of the dorm floor. This almost made her grin a bit, for she seemed to be the lucky one who had received the bed that she was so pleased about. Most others seemed not to mind in the same mannerism that she did, but somehow she found that registered as their loss and not as her own. A gentle chuckle emitted her mouth, but it was not loud enough for the wind to detect as it rushed past her head. The only sound the wind seemed able to find was that of her large navy hued bag being dropped onto one of the hard and rocky surfaces. If one were to look out at her they would probably see a girl that they thought of as to be insane, no one understood her, and no one ever would. Normal people could go to their friends for help with their problems, some told her to do the same. But that was only mockery, mockery that the sixth year oh so loathed. Why would one want to make life more challenging than it was already? It hurt her heart and angered her to the utmost extent, but the only emotion she ever seemed to show was depression. The depression of all of her feelings being depressed within herself, and yet the compactor could not seem to keep all of them steady.
The girl stood at a decent height of about five feet seven inches, but looked taller due to her extreme slenderness, yet she didn't seem unhealthily skinny. Although indeed she was. The wind was tossing about her shoulder length straight blonde hair, yet her pale hands did very little to try to calm it down and get it back under control. In fact, they were busier situating the small framed girl on the top of one of those large boulders that were once lain before her. Eyeliner was rich and dark around her gray eyes, the gray eyes that seemed so odd for someone of her appearance. Her unblemished skin glistened in the darkness that swam around her, and all in all she did not seem to be one of the witches most likely to be found at Hogwarts. Blue leopard printed tights clung to her slender legs, and an ebony colored skirt went over those. The skirt had slight ruffles in it and hardly hit her mid-thigh when she pulled it down. Her upper-body was adorned in a black and pale gray horizontally striped sweater. One glance at her and you would assume she was a muggleborn, and one hardly found in England. This was not true, in fact she was a half-blood, but she never bothered discussing her blood type with anyone.
Softly leaned herself back upon the boulder, propping herself up on her arms and permitting her gray eyes to watch the stars twinkling in the sky. Despite her being half-blooded the Ravenclaw girl enjoyed muggle things as well as wizarding things, sometimes muggle actually overpowered her wizarding world teachings. Thus, she was a well-rounded Ravenclaw knowledgeable in pretty much everything. But her favorite talent was her ability to sing, she was brilliant at it. She felt the urge coming over her to sing to the lake and the moon and the stars about all the agonizing pain she felt building up inside of her.
'Wait until it fades to black,
Ride into the sunset,
Would I lie to you?
Well, I've got something to say,
Grab your six-gun from your back,
Throttle the ignition,
Would I die for you?
Well here's your answer in spades,
Shotgun sinners,
Wild eyed jokers,
Got you in my sights,
Gun it while I'm holding on,
After all is said and done,
Climb out from the pine box,
Well I'm asking you,
'Cause she's got nothing to say,
The angels just cut out her tongue,
Call her black Mariah,
Would I lie to you?
That girl's not right in the brain,
Mass convulsions,
Strike the choir,
By the grace of God,
Gun it while I'm holding on,
But don't stop if I fall,
And don't look back,
Oh baby don't stop ,
Bury me and fade to black...."
Her voice drifted off as she felt a sudden shiver run down her spine, her ears thought they heard the sound of someone drawing closer to her. Were they right? Or was this all another lie to her? Another lie that she would learn to loathe, another lie that she would want to cry from... another lie that would make her feel the consuming pain of death and anguish. Indeed she was on her guard now, who was coming for her now? Was she yet again being hunted?

It's All About YOU
Celebrity Portrayal: n/a
Physical Appearance: Adelaide stands at a height of about 5'6" and many seem surprised that she has been able to stand at that height and not colapse. Her skinny body declares her anorexia in a farther stage than many would assume. She does not feel she got the luck of their family genes, especially not since she is the only one with colorblindness. The doctors even find it strange that she cannot see any colors only the grays, black, and white. Many seem to pity Adelaide for all the things that she won't be able to do in life without the use of color.
Adelaide would simply state one thing in refrence to her eyes, "They are not only the greatest gift, but the worst treasure. The bomb that will have a defect that none know of until it explodes." It is true, many fall in love with Adelaide for her lovely eyes, although she is not very keen on falling in love back. Thick make-up normally surrounds these vibrant eyes and contrast greatly to her pale skin that makes her appear almost as an alien.
As for hair, she has a strange hairstyle that makes most people remember her. Naturally a medium brown tone, she has been bleaching it since she was a very young child. It is no surprise that she takes very good care of her hair despite the constant bleaching.
Clothing Style: To say the least, Adelaide has a strange sense of fashion. The girl prefers darker colors with strange patterns and low cuts on them; although, she isn't as busty as most. Normally she can be found in either tight, skinny jeans or mini-skirts. Very rarely will she wear a dress, but she has been known to do that when dances and such swing around.
As for her upper body it is normally adorned in snug band shirts or some sort of support group for vegetarians. Otherwise it is a large hoodie. Her favorite shoes are chucks, but she does have several pairs of vans and other shoes that she wears quite frequently.
Personality: It is easiest to say that Adelaide prefers to be by herself and without anyone else around her. It is most likely that you will find her hanging out with one of her siblings or alone, she has minimal friends and the ones she does have tend to leave her alone most of the time. It takes many years to break past her cold shell, usually, and very rarely will she befriend anyone. She is rather cold hearted and rude to any who speak with her, frequently ignoring them. She does go to therapy every week with her siblings, since neither of her parents are ever around to take her anywhere.
Her siblings are the only ones who ever see the good side of Adelaide, the side where she is caring and loving. The siblings are the only things that have ever loved her and proved to her that they were worthy of her attention and caring ways.
Music has become Adelaide's life and she frequently expresses herself through poetry and art. A notebook is with her at all times for when she feels the inspiration swarm over her. She does have extreme obsessive compulsive disorder and a bad case of bi-polar as well. Many find her high maintenance and can't deal with her.

History: Adelaide Lyn Harker was the third child in the Harker family, and the only one to suffer from being colorblind. She was born at 12:59 AM on July 15th, 1990. It was not until she was five years old that she changed from a sociable child into a withdrawn depressive girl who would be outcast from society for most of her life. When Adelaide was younger she trusted her parents and the couple little friends she had more than her siblings. That was until she realized how painful friendships could be when Gwendolyn was ran over by a car. That was the start of her being ripped away from everything she had ever known and believed in.
Mr. Clive Lesley Harker III was famous for being a geneticist and a zoologist, one of the best in the world. He had always been able to provide everything that his children had wanted, which was good considering he had six children. Mrs. Fiona Vena Harker was popular for her small, but very fashionable, clothing line. Their lives were going fine until their daughter, Adelaide, had a friend struck down by a car. Of course the four year old, Gwendolyn Sellick, meant the world to Adelaide. They had been best friends and neighbors their whole life, and now she was dead. As if matters needed to be made worse, it was Adelaide who had told her parents of the event. The young girl had witnessed it.
Mr. Harker had tried to calm down the father, who was going positively insane and claiming that Adelaide had shoved the girl in front of the car, but it didn't work. Mr. Sellick killed his wife and two 9 year olds later that week. Adelaide was crushed, everyone in the family was. Mr. Sellick commited suicide a few days after.
It was at that moment, when Adelaide was five years old, that all her faith in her parents and in friendships left her. Friends had failed her, they were not there. It was soon after that no one was allowed to play with the Harker children anymore, many believed they had unknown connections to the Sellick accident. It was the two oldest children, Rosalind and Rowland, that encouraged their parents to move to a new part of England. The Harker's agreed and moved their children as quickly as they could.
Adelaide never quite adjusted to this new location in Devon, and instead of making friends she became very close with her siblings; especially Helena and Benjamin. Eventually it seemed that only Rosalind had other friends, but soon that diminished as well. Valerie seemed to grow up with her siblings nurturing her and holding her tightly to them, and it is a wonder that she did not turn out more like Adelaide.
Adelaide lived in decent peace with her family in Devon until she was nine years old. Despite her wants to have no friends she did end up making one. The only child of the Conway family, Ravette, grew to become Adelaide's only friend outside of the family. The Harker parents encouraged the relationship, until they found out Ravette's father had raped her and attempted to rape young Adelaide as well. It was in the Conway household at the age of nine when she first got ahold of drugs and cocaine. At that moment the craving for them would come ahold of her forever.
This time it wasn't the Mr. of the family that would kill his family, it was Mrs. Conway. When the Harkers came to the Conways and demanded about the situation involving Adelaide, Mrs. Conway burst. Burned that house right to the ground. Burning. Burning. The Harkers watched the house burn down, from their own home, and yet again several people said the Harker's might have associated with this other death; yet, many said they did not and several other parents told stories of how their children had been raped. Adelaide considered herself very lucky to have had her parents walk in and save her.
Now that Adelaide had learned the burden of friends she decided that no chances would be given in the future. Despite the loving manners of her neighbors she could never accept what had happened and move on. It was this time that she was not going to deal with friends, and that would put her at risk for the rest of her life.
So the family moved from England down to Virginia in the United States. All officially became citizens and tried to live normal lives. Everyone moved on slowly, and none would completely ever become normal since pain and death seemed to be everywhere that the Harker's went. What would happen now that they were in Virginia?
