"One-step, two-step, three!"
After three backward sidesteps, the boy stepped two forward, anchoring his right, back foot against the grass. The cleats of his black and white field shoes dug into the grass deep, into the tightly-packed soil, and neatly cut grass. His right hand held a football with an iron grip, a few inches away from his chest. Liquid blue eyes were set on his target, a white, square-rimmed basket, forty or so yards away. It was only a few yards away from the sideline, on the left side of the field.
Without hesitation, he pulled the football back, just behind his ear, and with one graceful but swift motion, moved his arm forward. His body waist-up twisted, facing the target, as he kept his free arm close to his shoulders, all the while stepping his left leg forward. The throw required the boy to use the leg as support for his weight. Pain seared through the bone and muscles of his thigh. Logan Dean-Tyler's throwing technique was almost perfect.
Almost.
The pain from the throw caused him everytime to throw the ball slightly to the left, as he struggled to keep his balance. His eyes watched as the ball left his hand, travelling in a perfect, spiral path. It was a pity that it failed to land on the target, missing the rim of it by a mere foot. It joined seven other footballs, scattered everywhere save for the basket. Logan knew that the distance had might as well been a missed pass altogether. In the adrenaline-pumping, fast-paced game known as football, every inch was crucial.
A look of agony appeared on Logan's face, as he gripped his thigh, wincing. Drops of sweat trickled down his temples, stinging his eye on the way to his chin. The grey shirt he had was soaked on his chest area, and his back, clinging to him like a second skin. He let out a short, loud cry of frustration. "Goddamnit!" Grabbing another basket right next to him, this one filled with footballs, he hurled it away, the footballs flying out. The basket made a clanging sound as it fell about twelve yards away from where he stood.
"Fuck!"
Back To The BASICS Full Name: Sawyer Collins Nicknames: Aids, Tom (as in Tom Sawyer) Age: 17 D.O.B: September 6 Gender: Male Grade: Junior
It's All About YOU Celebrity Portrayal:
Physical Appearance:
The boy's looks are nothing too much out of the ordinary. His body frame is short but rigid. Sawyer stands a fingertip less than five foot nine, weighing in at exactly a hundred and forty-eight pounds. The lack of height is compensated for by his build. The boy was often teased in his childhood years for being 'vertically-challenge'. As a result, the boy vowed to grow the most he could, with intense physical conditioning, and a controlled diet. Instead of more height, the boy developed a fit body, with strong muscles. His biceps, abdomen, and leg muscles are all well-defined. It was all a gift in disguise, it turned out, as it guaranteed the boy a spot on the school's high school football team as a running back, and a one on the basketball team as the starting point guard.
doesn't have too much to be vain about when it comes to facial features either. His eyes are his most distinctive feature. When the boy was five, a severe battle from influenza left the boy a lasting mark. The boy suffers from heterochromia, a condition in which one eye color is different from the other. In 's case, his left eye turn from its natural blue color to a medium-toned brown. This 'abnormality' is usually the reason why most people tend to stare at his eyes whenever engaged in a conversation with him.
Inheriting the dark blonde locks that the boy's father also possesses, Sawyer never gives much attention to styling his hair. Often keeping it close cropped, he simply combs the top downwards, while the front is either brushed up or to the side. The boy has only recently grown facial hair, and still prefers a clean shaven face to one with a stubble. Ocassionally, lets his hair grow a little longer, styling it in a messy look with wax. His face shape, like his body frame, is very masculine, with a prominent jawline and a strong nosebridge.
The boy has two other significant features. One is a large scar, extending from his elbow to his wrist. The flaw is an unpleasant reminder from his freshman year. While helping his father build their house's garage, a loose pillar caused the wooden frame of the structure to collapse on the boy, leaving him scarred for life. The other feature is an artificial work, a tatoo of a pair of angel wings. Inked in black and white, the artwork spreads across his upper back. still remembers the unpleasant night when his parents finally discovered that he had it done, which was roughly a week later, thanks to his uncanny ability to hide things.
Clothing Style:
Like most boys, Sawyer Collins throws on anything clean in his drawer in the morning, as long as it's comfortable. His favorite 'outfit' is a dark colored, snug-fitting tee, and a pair of comfortable, straight fit jeans. Sometimes, the boy is seen jogging around the streets of the town, in his active wear: a loose-fitting tee, and black basketball shorts. Being the brother of two /very/ fashion conscious girls takes the load of shopping away from the boy. His fancier clothes, with brands from Hollister, Abercrombie and Fitch, or Guess, were all bought by Elizabeth and Molly Collins. The boy only uses them at special occassions, such as parties and concerts.
Personality:
Fierce is the word that comes to mind whenever anyone tries to describe Collins' personality. His childhood years were a rough one. Being short is a pain when you're a kid. The boy was always the target of bullying and insults, often pushed around by the bigger kids. Come middle school, when had already started conditioning his body, the boy fought back, punching and kicking, until he earned the respect, or fear, of the others around him. This carried on through his adolecsent years, and even until now, the boy doesn't take too kindly to insults.
His past tendency to be irresponsible and immature disappeared after the death of his older brother. Now, the lone Collins son is very protective of his siblings, sometimes pushing 'overprotective' to the extreme. He's been known to have assaulted his younger sister Molly's numerous boyfriends more than once. His sisters are very dear to him, and after his brother's death, the boy vowed never to let anything happen to them. Ever.
Aside from a very few people, has never let anyone outside of his family get too close to him in terms of relationships. The boy dislikes attachments, always feeling a need to be independent. He even refuses money from his parents most of the time, insisting to pay for his own things, such as clothes, and even his car. This need for independence is a result of both his being picked on as a kid, magnified by his brother's untimely death. Unlike his two sisters, he isn't much of a partier, often staying in the background whenever it comes to celebrations and such.
Unlike many of the boys in the school's varsity teams, Sawyer Collins doesn't spend a great deal trying to pick up girls. Although that's not to say that a girl's attractive figure won't catch his eye once in a while. The boy has always been focused on the sports he plays. His dream of attaining a scholarship to play for a big-name school had been with him since he first touched a football. With all the things that have been happening in Roanoke, is trying desperately to find a way out of town. But his sisters just might tie him down to this place.

History:
Born into a family of four children, Sawyer Collins never had any trouble with responsibility. Being the second youngest meant that nobody treated you like a baby, and nobody expected you to take care of your siblings. And having well of parents only made life all the more easier.
He didn’t do too bad on the social scene, either. High school was an easy ride for him. The boy was blessed with a decent brain, being an above-average student. His body-building that started from middle school provided him a spot as the football team’s starting running back, and the basketball team’s point guard. Despite his short temper and unwillingness to connect to others, people liked the boy. He was a nice guy, never attempting to get to anyone’s bad side.
Yes, on the exterior, life was good for Sawyer Collins. But beneath all the money and fake smiles, life was so much more.
The Collins offspring never had much of a parent. Marie Collins, an top-notch lawyer, was always away to defend some client, leaving the kids at home. Daniel Collins works overseas in England, only coming home at special occasions. And they didn’t include the birthdays of his children. Sawyer, along with his siblings, was raised by his grandmother. When he was twelve, she passed away.
The boy could still remember that fateful night, when his sister came home at two in the morning. The news of his brother’s murder was unbearable for the boy. His brother was his best friend, protecting Sawyer from all the bullies and insults when he could not fend for himself. He loved him. Since then, he’s changed, becoming a much more responsible, overprotective person, always looking out for the good of his sisters. With each and every killing in town, the boy dives deeper and deeper into his protective character, trusting nobody but his family, and his closest friends. But beneath his independent character is a young boy, crying for help, for his brother to come back and save him from his deepest fears. The fears that there will be one day when he cannot protect the ones he love most.
