Shadow Falls, centered in Ottawa County, Michigan, was founded in 1945 by the wealthy Arthur Triscuit. Arthur chose this area because of the serene atmosphere and the fact that it sits on the shore of Lake Michigan. The establishment ran smoothly for years. It was known for admitting teens, no questions asked. The only requirements were that you spent two hours a week with one of the doctors on staff and thirty minutes a day in group therapy, lead by one of the doctors. Everything seemed to be running just fine, until a freak accident in the Substance Abuser building caused a campus wide fire, claiming the lives of most of the patients and all three doctors on the staff. It is rumored that their spirits can be seen on the top floor of each building; but that is only a rumor, right?
After a prolonged rebuilding, the establishment opened its doors once more in 1986. A fresh wave of troubled teens piled in [some by choice, others forced] and treatment resumed. While there are only two doctors currently on staff, Shadow Falls itself is broken up into three buildings for the troubled youth, each named after the doctor who originally specialized in the field. The first, Lindon, is for substance abusers. The second, Jasper, is for cutters. The third, Hudson, is for eating disorders. There is a common fourth building that holds multiple facilities that are open to use for the patients.
It's now 2009. Dr. McCoy and Dr. Jenkins are always welcoming new teens into Shadow Falls. Treatment continues, but of course there are ways to relapse, even right under the doctors and nurses noses. It’s amazing what goes on here in the bathrooms, the bedrooms, and sometimes even out in the open on campus. The goal remains the same though. Help the kids and send them back into society.
Now the real question is: Do you belong here? Are you part of The Thrill of the Fall?
