Lissa walked along the sidewalk of Fairfax Place towards Joie's house. Her hands were stuffed into the pockets of her zip-up hoodie, and she scuffed her sneakers against each other with each step. She was heading that way to help Joie out by hanging out. Lissa looked ahead and saw the lights were on in the Harrison house. She wondered who else would be there when she arrived. Rylan Avery, of all people, had asked her to be there. Lissa had done a double-take at her phone when she had recieved his text. She had forgotten that they had ever even exchanged numbers...The fact that he was going to be there wasn't a shock, but it opened up the possibility that someone else might be there...Joie was very close with Lissa and Rylan, but she was also best friends with Faiqa and Beth, who weren't exactly on Lissa's speed-dial. She exhaled deeply as she walked up to Joie's house and rang the doorbell. She shook her bangs out of her eyes and waited for the door to open.

Joie sat in the kitchen of her home fooling around with the blender. She was craving dill pickles and chocolate Oreo ice cream again and decided that those two foods would be better blender together. Her father cringed at the sound of those two food together and her mother laughed saying 'it's just those pregnancy hormones talking' or 'being pregnant makes you crave strange things'. Before she could even start the blender, her Siberian husky started barking and within seconds, the door bell rang. With her parents at work and Danielle at her friend's house, Joie had no other choice but to answer the door herself. Joie figured it was either Rylan or Lissa. But then thought again, it couldn't have been Rylan because he had a key and always let himself in. So it was defiantly Lissa at her front door. As she walked to the door with Rex following closely behind her, Joie checked herself out in the mirror. She looked like a complete mess. Her face was red and her eyes were swollen and puff from all the crying she had done earlier, her once neatly brushed brownish blond hair was in a messy bun. With a sigh, Joie opened the door. Joie greeted Lissa with a grim and sorrowful faint smile and let her in. She was careful not to let her emotions excel to brightly at this moment. Earlier she was depress with lots of tears every time she thought about Bryan and Michael but right now she was pissed off and angry which was clear when she left a voicemail for Mike earlier.

Lissa instantly felt downtrodden in sympathy with Joie's red, tear-stained face. Joie was usually so put together; it was, to say the least, unsettling to see her with her hair frizzed out in a bun and her face puffy from crying. Lissa forced a grin as means of hello and stepped into the house. She shut the front door behind herself. To give herself some time to think of something to say, she crouched and scratched Rex around his ears. After a moment or two, she gave the puppy a final pat and stood up. She looked Joie up and down, and said: "So, how are you holdin up so far?" She listened carefully to the sounds of the house. She didn't hear any of her peers' voices, so, for now, she could rest easy knowing that she at least had a few moments alone with Joie before anyone else showed up.

You could say that Rylan was surprised that Mike had done what he did to Joie, not that he hadn't acted that way before, but in a great time of need he'd of expected him to step up a bit. Mike had always been one to have a bit of a temper, one to judge before he actually knew something about the situation, but it was plainly unacceptable at the moment. Upon receiving Joie's texts he'd asked Lissa to come along, which must have been quite the surprise to the girl. He and Lissa didn't exactly run with the same crowd, but seeing as they were both extremely good friends with Joie, it was only natural.
Heading through the small wooded path that led to Joie's house, he quietly played the past through days in his mind. He'd been going through a lot of shit as well in the past week, but comforting Jo would take some of it off his mind. Both Sawyer and Zephyr were pulling eagerly at the end of their leashes, knowing they were heading to Rex's house. Usually Rylan brought them along, because they were good puppies, not the annoying ones that have to be on top of you 24/7. Rylan forced a smile as he watched them, but soon enough his jaw returned to the familiar clench.
The steps to the door seemed too long to even consider walking. Sleep hadn't been great in the past few days, between the Faiqa/Beth thing, and now Joie, he was too busy thinking at night to rest and relax. Sighing, he climbed the stone steps, inserting his key in the door, and twisting the knob. He didn't want to bother Jo, as usual, so letting himself in was the best option. Unclipping the leashes, he let the two puppies run off to find Rex, he himself beginning into the hallway. He spotted Joie and Lissa, proceeding in that general direction. His face was set in a sympathetic gesture, attempting to smile reassuringly, but not too successful. "Hey, Bud," He greeted, the familiar childish name for Jo emitted, a soft nod given to Lissa once he realized she'd voiced a question.

Two puppies raced into the house, startling Lissa. She looked down the hall away from Joie and saw that Rylan had just arrived. Apparantly he had his own key to the Harrison's home. Lissa knew that Rylan was close with Joie, but she didn't realize he was that close. She briefly wondered if any of Joie's other close friends had keys, and, if so, why she had never been given one. Not that she would have used it, but it would have been a pretty big gesture. Rylan said 'Hi' to Joie, and nodded cordially in greeting to Lissa. It was unlikely that Joie would respond to her question now that their group was -at least hopefully it was- complete; Lissa leaned away from her and propped herself on the wall, crossing her arms across her ribs. She looked from Rylan back to Joie. Her mouth pulled itself into a serious line. Trying to break the silence, she said: "So.." She trailed off without completing a sentence. Like most of the people involved in this situation, Lissa wasn't sure what to say. She knew that 'so' wasn't exactly Shakespearian prose, but it might get the ball rolling.

A smile crept across Joie's face as she watched Sawyer and Zephyr race pass her and into the livingroom with Rex, usually they would have jumped all over her first but she just figured they were excited to be visiting with Rex today. Joie smiled again as she greeted Rylan and looked over at Lissa. Seeing Lissa cross her arms and lean against the wall only made Joie want to do it. So she did. As she did, she looked down at her stomach and seen that her pregnancy was now noticeble. Her stomach poked out alot because of the shirt she was wearing. Joie emitted a sigh as Lissa spoke, "I'm completely fine.... not sad or crying anymore just.... um... angry" she responded. ooc: sry it's short... it'll get better

Lissa nodded at Joie. There was another pause. The way that Joie was standing, Lissa couldn't help but notice that Joie was developing a bit of a tummy. Her friend was so petite that she was going to start to seriously show pretty soon. Now that was going to be quite the scandal at school. Lissa thought for the hundreth time how Joie was really going to find out who her true friends were...She shrugged and gave a half-smile "Angry is better than sad, in my opinion." Her eyes flicked to Rylan "Has anyone talked to him since..." It was obvious that Lissa was talking about Michael and the break-up. She wasn't sure how to phrase it, so she let another sentence fade out into nothing. Lissa felt inarticulate and awkward standing in the hallway with Joie and Rylan, but did her best to keep up a strong, confident front for Joie's sake.

Rylan stood toward the middle of the hallway, as if unsure where he should be standing. He then shifted enough to rest his body against the wall beside Joie, casting her a sideways glance. At times he didn't quite believe his friend, but now he had a feeling she was actually being truthful. Usually, she'd spare his worrying by telling him she was all right, though in reality she wasn't. Rylan hated it, and therefore normally blamed himself for not noticing that she wasn't ok. He was beginning to notice the pregnancy fully now, not just in mind set, but physically. He wasn't sure exactly who in their school knew of this, but the percentage of them that didn't would definitely know soon, courtesy of nasty rumors. He'd seen people come and go because of them, and rumors were just the beginning of it all.
The blond nodded lightly in agreement with Lissa, glancing in her direction as she met his gaze. He'd briefly talked to Mike over AIM, but nothing more. "No, not lately," Rylan had been pondering on whether or not to confront his friend about the ordeal, but soon decided it best not to. With any other experience like this, it never ended well. He didn't have the best composure when it came to controlling anger, and wasn't about to chance anything when it came to safety. Though, if things seemed to worsen, he'd definitely make his mood in that aspect.

Lissa looked between Rylan and Joie, and finally settled her eyes on the floor. Silence passed between the three teenagers. The quiet, broken only by the sound of three puppies playing, wasn't entirely uncomfortable. Although Rylan and Lissa had only spent a minimal amount of time together before this, they knew that their combined presence would serve to best comfort Joie, and that their clique differences didn't matter at times like this. And the fact that there was no drama between the two only helped the situation. Because Rylan and Lissa were fine with each other there was nothing to distract them from Joie. Lissa picked her eyes up from the floor and focused on the wall between Rylan and Joie. She sighed and said the question that had been on everyone's mind since Joie realized she was pregnant: "What should we do now?"

"What should we do now?" Joie didn't know how to answer that direct question. With a sigh, she let her body slide down the wall and onto the floor. Bringing her knees up to her chest, Joie thought for a brief second. The only thing she knew how to do right now is get prepared. She was already prepared for the rumors she'd hear on monday and was most definalty prepared to be buying brand new shirts because of her continuely growing belly.
"We move on... I'm having a baby and I can't wait around for everything to get better, I have to make that happen. So.... I'm having my baby with or without Mike.... I don't need him and neither does this baby" Joie said in a low tone of voice. She knew she needed Mike but she had convinced herself that she could raise her baby without him. She'd seen girls do it before.

Even Rylan didn't have an answer to this question, hell, he didn't even have a word of comfort. He wanted to help Joie in any way he could, and he knew Lissa would do the same. It was just a matter of putting their heads together and coming up with some kind of answer to the problem. He watched Joie lower herself to the floor, and was actually tempted to do the same, but standing made him feel a bit more confident. Joie was strong, that he knew, but pregnancy was a whole different deal, you now had another life to worry about.
The blond was somewhat skeptical about how confident Joie was about what she'd just said, did she believe it? She couldn't raise a baby on her own, even if she had all her friends for support. The baby needed that support, and Jo didn't need to worry about a lost relationship. Rylan was extremely angry with Mike at this point, and he didn't know what to do about it. For now, he'd decided to leave it be. "Well, it's a start," He said simply, grasping at straws to find something to say. "You'll just have to be prepared for anything."

Lissa was proud of Joie's resolve. She knew that the breakup was terribly hard on Joie: being a single teen mother was definately not on Joie's to-do list. Lissa smiled down at the seated girl. Knowing that Joie was determined to make it work was relieving. Lissa could definately provide back-up strength for her friend as long as Joie was still standing. She turned and looked at Rylan as he spoke. It was apparant that he, much like the girls, was having difficulty coming up with the right thing to say. After he said his piece, Lissa nodded in agreement. There was another beat of silence. Once more Lissa decided to be the first to speak: "Is anyone hungry? Let's get something to eat." She patted her stomach and headed over to the kitchen. Sitting in the hallway wasn't going to solve anything, and getting food might not solve anything, either, but at least it would taste good.

"Is anyone hungry? Let's get something to eat." Joie let out a laugh as she stood up. She had forgotten about her pickles and chocolate ice cream that was waiting to be blended in the kitchen. Looking back at Rylan, her best friend since birth, Joie flashed him a smile. But it wasn't any old smile, it was one that signaled to him that she'd be alright. Joie thought for a moment before heading into the kitchen with Lissa. She had been so caught up in her own drama, she hadn't stopped to ask Rylan how everything was at home.
"Thanks for everything, Ry" Joie stated as she walked over to the blond hair boy and hugged him.

Rylan smiled at Lissa's antics, he could only guess she was using the kitchen as an excuse to change the subject. It was a good one, he had to admit. Rylan wasn't all that hungry, but he decided to at least follow them in, possibly scrounge up one of Mrs. Harrison's famous treats. He was a sucker for something home cooked, which he didn't get a lot at his house, unless you'd call the maid preparing something a home cooked meal. However, every once in a while an Aunt would send something to the house, the house he was now living at with a few college freshman cousins. He hadn't even told Joie what went down with he and his father, surprising, considering he told her everything. Rylan just didn't want to bother her with his own problems, she had enough to worry about.
At Joie's hug, he smiled, slightly surprised, but curious at the same time. "Sure, Jo," He replied simply, walking alongside her to where Lissa now stood.

Lissa stood at the kitchen counter looking somewhat disgusted and confused. As Joie and Rylan walked in, she looked up with a raised eyebrow. She pointed at the subject of her chagrin: the blender. "Umm, Joie, what is this?" Lissa had previously been under the impression that the whole 'pregnant women crave pickles and ice cream' thing was a pregnancy myth, but the contents of the cuisinart before her suggested otherwise. It was pretty nauseating, but pretty funny at the same time. The more Lissa studied the pickles sitting on top of the chocolate ice cream, the less able she was to conceal a grin. "Were you seriously about to eat this?"
